New Pairyosi 4 in 1 usb c hub

CES 2018 – Pairyosi has unveiled its latest USB-C docking station for notebooks, called Nucleum. This hub provides multiple ports for connecting up to 4 devices at once. In addition, it can deliver up to 60 watts of power over its USB-C cable.

For an in-depth look at USB-C, or Type-C, take a look at our feature article.

Nucleum Features

It’s important to note the Nucleum isn’t a Thunderbolt 3 (TB3) hub, although it certainly could be connected to a TB3 port. Thunderbolt is a high-speed connection that runs over a USB cable. The Nucleum instead supports USB 3.1. It doesn’t provide as much throughput as TB3, but it has enough to drive a single 4K monitor.

The Nucleum has the following ports:

  • 4K HDMI Video Output
  • 2x USB Type-A ports
  • Type-C port supporting pass-through charging
  • Premium Aluminum construction
  • Super slim and sleek design

The Nucleum is compact for a hub. The total weight is just 3.2 ounces. Thanks to all of its inbuilt ports, a device like this can mitigate or eliminate the need for dongles. We’re especially impressed that, Many of the new kind of notebooks we test no longer include USB 3.0 port. This is especially true if you have an ultra-thin notebook like the MacBook Pro. (That notebook has only USB-C ports, as a matter of fact.)

Bear in mind that not all USB-C ports are created equal. It’s not uncommon for a notebook to have a USB-C port with just USB 3.0 speeds. USB 3.1 speeds are considerably faster. If you’re not sure what your notebook has, ask in our forums!
